REALISATION D’UNE HALLE DE FORMATION – MACOLIN
Open competition
The new spots hall is a simple and compact block set parallel to the slope and shifted back from the existing hall. This option allows balancing the scale of the built complex while recovering the existing building dimensions. The two sport halls – the already existing one and the new one – result well distinct while they form a cohesive built whole, as they are settled on a unique terrace facing the landscape. However, the same settlement logic of unifying “terraces” supporting different blocks, is also to be found in other buildings in Macolin educational sport centre. A dialogue between individual buildings of equal dimensions is thus created, establishing a balanced relation with the surrounding landscape. Offsetting the buildings allows to reinforce the role and use of the pedestrian esplanade which becomes an access point shared by both buildings. Meanwhile, the displacement opens the sight towards the landscape making th most of a direct contact with the surrounding woods. The whole complex profits of the sloping ground to provide a two-levels basement giving enough room for the diverse elements of the sport program, with specific attention to the wrestling hall which benefit of generous windows facing the woods.
